You’ve got a big goal and it seems to take forever to achieve? Work towards it for 30 days and call it quits. Just that. It’s that simple. This is a concept developed by Steve Pavlina (read his post on this).
Really, I’m serious. It doesn’t even have to be a 30-day trial. It could be a 21-day trial or 14-day trial (7-day trial seems too short to me). It’s all in the mind. Say, in order to keep going in the long run, you might need to be working out 3 times a week for a few weeks to break the old lazy habit. However, you’d think in your mind that it will be a long and painful process because it will be permanent for the rest of your life (hopefully), and therefore stop working out after a couple of times. This trial concept serves to give you the freedom to revert back to your old habits after the trial period, without guilt. According to Steve Pavlina, you could extend your trial period to 60 or 90 days once you hit the 30-day threshold. This is exactly what I was saying about setting small milestones in reaching your long-term goals.
As for myself, I will start my 30-day trial on working out 3 times/week, beginning from next week after I move into my new apartment. I’m very confident that this exercise regime will work and I will finally enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Some might think that it’s a laborious chore, and that it’s a sacrifice in your life (Some would ask: why not just enjoy the days of not exercising?). However, as Zig Ziglar said, you don’t pay the price of good health. Rather, you enjoy the price of good health, and you pay the price of poor health.
So what are you waiting for? Stop procrastinating and start your 30-day personal development trial today!
